There’s a saying we joke with, that the eye eats before the mouth, suggesting that presentation can make a dish appear more appetizing than it actually tastes. Last week, while in the South, we were excited to try the vibrant and visually enticing dishes from Fig by Liro that we’d so much admired on Instagram. Fig by Liro calls the experience a ‘voyage gastronomique’. We like to call it a ‘taste show’, because the eye catching dishes tasted as good as they looked.
The aesthetic experience begins with the view. Overlooking the majestic sea, the scenery is breathtaking, whether at dinner or lunch. Be sure to book in advance, as the restaurant is small and the balcony seating is not to be missed. This setting truly elevates the entire dining experience.
The pleasant experience continues with the friendly service. The large and diverse menu made us eager to try our selections. A feast for the eyes as much as they are for the palate, these are what we loved and that you must order:
For the salad, go with Burrata Caprese. The fresh, creamy burrata was soft and smooth, perfectly blending Italian flavors with traditional Albanian touches, thanks to the addition of crunchy bread crumbs on the plate. The glossy cherry tomatoes garnished with a sprig of fresh basil make the dish pop.
The ceviche, presented on a bed of ice with a garnish of red berries, exudes elegance and freshness. The red berries gave a very unique taste, making it a must-try dish.
The seafood tartare, served on a striking leaf, showcases a delicate balance of color and form. The combination of violet shrimps with avocado sauce was very intriguing.
The salmon with figs was another exceptionally delicious specialty. The combination of figs with Brussels sprout sauce was delightful.
La Notte Bianca dessert stood out from the other ones, with a texture reminiscent of ice cream and a touch of parfait.
The prices at Fig by Liro were incredibly reasonable, especially when considering the quality of the food served. Each dish boasted an exquisite taste that far surpassed expectations, making every penny spent well worth it.
A gateway to gastronomic reverie, Fig by Liro sent us away on a journey of taste and texture. Are we willing to take that journey again? Absolutely. With the tasty, beautiful combinations, Fig by Liro is undoubtedly a must-visit destination.
