A Tour on Italian Cuisine Without Leaving Albania
If you were asked about the first thing that pops your mind when you hear the name “Italy” you would say food, right? We sure know and realize that Italy is much more than that, it is also history, and art, and culture, but there is a visualization of pasta, pizza, panini and aperitivo that our mind immediately makes, with eating being one of the best activities.
Now what if we told you that you don’t need to book a ticket to Italy if you’re craving their cuisine, because Italy is closer than a plane/ferry ticket away. We even dare to say that you can find Italy in the heart of Tirana, in a place called Painted Black.
Led by Michelin-star-trained chefs Raffaele Biancareddu and Tiziana Brunzu, their menu spans breakfast to dinner, bringing a distinct taste of Italian cuisine to Albania. Their recipes draw inspiration from time-honored knowledge, evolving through the experiences of our chefs in Michelin-starred London restaurants. It is the passion for the culinary arts and the dedication to storytelling that guide the two chefs in crafting dishes. Simple ingredients cooked in a way to elevate their taste, all while being attentive to details. Chaquutery’s main offerings for example, hail from the rich culinary traditions of Tuscany and Lazio. A comprehensive libation experience awaits, curated by Riccardo Virgili, featuring a standout “Spritz Family” cocktail lineup and an exclusive selection of wines and proseccos from Franciacorta.
As for the interior, it is meticulously designed by Conceptual Plus director Michael Frassine, exudes sophistication with black furniture and a visually striking mountain-contoured wall.
The inception of Painted Black in Tirana aligns with the city’s rapid growth, presenting an excellent opportunity to showcase unique Italian flavors.
Beyond just a gastro bar, Painted Black immerses us in the essence of Italy, offering an authentic experience from morning till dinner time.
