Rexhep Rexhepi

Atelier Akrivia by Rexhep Rexhepi: The Synonym of Watchmaking Excellence

It was the beauty of a Swiss watch, particularly a Tissot one, the fascination of the mechanism and wanting to understand what was laying behind the tick tock sound that made Rexhep Rexhepi so curious about watches.

It started at age of six or seven and the curiosity and love for watches grew with him. At twelve when he first moved from Kosovo te Geneva, Rexhepi became aware about his love and passion about horology and at fourteen Rexhep Rexhepi started working for Patek Philippe. At Patek he learned about the whole process of watch making in a very short time, from making to finishing and assembling, it was a dream come true. After a successful experience at Patek, Rexhepi switched to B&B concept, where he learned how to create everything from scratch. Because of the talent and hardwork, luck followed and Rexhepi started working fornFrançois-Paul Journe.

Today, Rexhep Rexhepi is an independent watchmaker running his own company, Atelier Akrivia, being the youngest watchmaker. Akrivia allows Rexhep to share his passion for Haute Horlogerie and to create exceptional pieces. Each piece is designed by hand consisting in a limited watch production. Each year, the Akrivia brand makes less than 30 watches for the select, lucky few. Each watchmaker builts their watch from start to finish.

At Atelier Akrivia the masters are combined. Engineers, watchmakers, master case-makers micro-mechanics and braceletiers join forces while holding the principles of the purest watchmaking tradition in the heart. From the hand-finishing of each part of the movement: angle, Côte de Genève, guilloché, circular graining, polishing and more, the watchmakers are committed to excellence. A special feature of Akrivia is the attention paid to
novement finishing – a singular element that elevates mechanical watchmaking to the form of art.

Prices are upon request, but in 2023 the Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Contemporain I (RRCCI) in pink gold sold at Phillips’ Hong Kong auction for HK$7.24 million including fees, equivalent to US$924,000 set the record.

In 2017, the company was settled in the heart of the old town of Geneva. The workshop has been designed as an open and friendly place. The centerpiece consists of an island of workbench that allows everyone to watch the work and interact with watchmakers. In 2023 Arkivia started the collaboration with House of Louis Vuitton, two forces joined for watchmaking. In 2024, the new workshop location was inagurated.

Only a few days ago, three watches made by Switzerland’s Rexhep Rexhepi sold for a combined $4.3 million at auction, placing Rexhepi among top-tier collector brands, including F.P. Journe and Patek Philippe.
