And Gives Its Verdict
During our research on weekend getaways in the South, one particular building caught our eye. It seemed as if floating effortlessly, creating a striking visual impression. Intrigued by its unique architecture and design, we felt a strong urge to visit this remarkable place. The way it appeared to emerge from the blue hues of the water and sky made it an irresistible destination for us. So last Thursday found us packing our suitcase, excited to finally stay at Nobus Hotel. While today, we are ready to share the full experience with you.
The hotel
It is easily noticable that the architecture, a work of Arkiplan studio, was carefully designed to respect and blend with the natural landscape. The hotel’s hilltop location offers breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea and the architecture harmoniously integrates water, space, and nature to create an idyllic and immersive retreat. The white façade minimizes heat absorption, while the stone terraces seamlessly merge with the hillside, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design. Very majestic in its simplicity you could say.
The rooms were impeccably clean and exceptionally comfortable, with everything appearing brand new, as if we were the first guests to stay there. To enhance the experience further, we would recommend providing coffee in the room to make guests feel more welcomed. Including a box of chocolates or a small bottle of wine or prosecco would be a delightful touch. Additionally, offering separate shampoos for hair and body wash would improve the overall convenience and satisfaction.
Although there are many beaches near the hotel, we preferred to stay by the pool. The pool is cleaned every morning, ensuring it is always pristine and well-maintained. The pool, with its infinity edge, merges with the expansive view of the Ionian Sea, creating an illusion of boundless water stretching to the horizon. The placement of sunbeds partially submerged in the water allows for a unique lounging experience, combining relaxation with the cooling sensation of the pool. Clean lines and minimalist aesthetics that allow for the sunset to perfom the colour show. The calming, carefree atmosphere sorrounded the pool. However, we couldn’t help but notice the hanging cords, which detracted from the otherwise pristine setting. While the hotel may not be responsible for areas beyond its property, investing in the overall surroundings is crucial for maintaining a five-star standard. Attention to every detail is essential to achieve and uphold this level of excellence.
As for the service, we were actually amazed from the culture of service the staff had. Extremely polite, we lost the touch of being in Albania.
Hotel’s bonus points:
- Very comfortable for families with kids.
- Offers spa treatments with a salt room, emotional shower, sauna, jacuzzi, and hammam. Massages have an extra cost.
- Has its own parking area.
- Multilingual staff; speaking English, Italian, and Albanian.
The restaurant
The restaurant had a very simple ambiance with a pleasent view. The service was quick and friendly, mostly provided by young foreign waitstaff.
The main dishes that made the difference were the octopus with patato cream and parsley, and salmon with julienned zucchini and new patatoes…
Overall, we would totally recommend Nobus for a weekend. Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast or simply in need of a peaceful escape, Nobus Hotel is worth a visit. We look forward to our next stay and hope our tips help enhance your own experience at this unique destination.
