In May 6, the first Monday of May, the stairs of MET in New York City are always filled with celebrities who celebrate the new exhibiton of the Costume Institute. It is considered to be the most important fashion moment of the year and regarding details, we are here to discover them for you.
What really is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is more than a fashion show. It is a charity event and fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It marks the opening of the fashion exhibition that stays at Met for one year. Only the last year’s event raised $22 million.

What happens at the Met, stays at the Met. Shortly put; it is a secret. All the guests must obey to the no-phone, no-photo rule. Rules, however, are meant to be broken, and celebrities have always offered sneak peeks from the inside event.
Where is it held?
The Met Gala is held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. If by the time you want a picture with your favourite celebrity, you will find them in the nearby hotels.
Who will be hosting the Met Gala 2024?
The hosting group changes every year. Dua Lipa was in the last year’s one. This year we will be having: Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. A cool, fashionable, sexy group of people right?
What is the theme and the dress code?
The new exhibition will be, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the official dress code is “The Garden of Time.” 250 rare items are expected to be featured in the exhibit, designed by Dior, Givenchy, Schiaparelli and many more; spanning in over 400 years of fashion history. Those that are too fragile to be worn again will be shown via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation. The exhibit will be an ode to nature and the poetics in fashion, as it will be organized in three zones: Land Sea and Sky. As for the dress code, it is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same title, so we are expecting a lot of floral looks to take the center stage.
Who is invited?
Around 450 guests attend the Met each year, but the list is always a top secret. You however, must be a big deal to be invited in it.
