…and their secret recepies
The restaurant that answered all the questions
When traveling abroad, our minds are often preoccupied with which museum to explore and which sights to see, leaving little consideration for where we’ll enjoy our meals. Typically, we tend to dine at places we stumble upon along our way, often leading to regrettable experiences. At Stylisphere, we abide by the three-question rule when selecting restaurants:
- Is it conveniently located near our planned destinations?
- Does it offer traditional cuisine or boast intriguing historical significance?
- Does it offer something unique, such as a signature dish, exceptional design, or renowned chef?
Italy consistently makes it effortless for us to answer these questions, and Trattoria Napoleone stood out as a truly exceptional find.
It is located in Piazza del Carmine, in the heart of Oltrarno in Florence, one of the liveliest and most enchanting neighborhoods in the city, brimming with artisan shops and modern nightlife venues. Their outdoor tables overlook the evocative Basilica of Santa Maria del Carmine and the Brancacci Chapel, a small treasure housing frescoes by Masaccio, Filippo Lippi, and Masolino.
The restaurant, located in a building that was once a textile factory, now attracts hundreds of local and foreign customers due to its antique decor and high-quality cuisine. The furniture, paintings, chandeliers, and tables all come from antique markets and traders. You could sense a form of energy vibrating from the interior, a potent aura resonating from ages past. The dim, ambient lighting casts a theatrical ambiance, simultaneously cozy and mysterious—a space that feels familiar yet holds the promise of undiscovered depths.
As for the menu, the restaurant had a cool digital one with lots of options including here a vegeterian and vegan menu; and a whole menu of wines. If you have any allergies or want more information about the ingredients the staff will provide you with appropriate documentation.

We went for the classic menu of seven dishes. According to us, these were the highlights of the menu:
The first dish of “Potash” soup was served in a small pan and it came as e delicious free “treat” from the restaurant. Very thoughful indeed. It was made of vegetables; carrots, pepper and potatoes; seasoning, salt and olive oil. A soup for the soul and heart.
The second dish called the Land Appetizer, was a hot and cold appetizers in one, with grilled meatballs, omelets with eggs and truffles, Tuscan prosciutto, and fried polenta. The best dish of trying everything in one appetizer. And all ingredients would go very well together.
The fourth dish couldn’t miss our highlight, because you can’t say Italy without saying pasta, and this one was the restaurant’s specialty. Spaghetti with fresh truffle, moist pumpkin flowers, and fresh sea scallops.
The fifth dish, and now we are talking, again the restaurant’s specialty, well-cooked Napoleon fillet, accompanied by baked potatoes.
The seventh dish is the dessert. A good dining must be finished with a good dessert; at Napoleon try two. The famous tiramisu for which Italians are experts and the Napoleon’s signature the “Warme Apple Pie” with a very secret recepie that gained a special place in out heart.
Would we recommend Trattoria Napoleone? Absolutely. Will we return? Without a doubt. Who wouldn’t want to experience that atmosphere again and explore more dishes from their menu?
