24 Hours in Rainy Milan

A Stylish Escape in the New York of Italy

Milan, the bustling metropolis affectionately known as the “New York of Italy”! Just like its American counterpart, Milan pulsates with energy, creativity, and a relentless pace that keeps its streets alive day and night. From the elegant architecture of the Duomo to the sleek skyscrapers of the financial district, Milan is a melting pot of culture, style and ambition that exudes cosmopolitan charm and endless opportunities.

We like to soak in its restless atmosphere and that is why for the weekend’s short escapes we choose Milan. Last weekend Stylisphere was in Milan and if you think that rain takes away the charm of the city, you are wrong. Milan offers plenty of activities for rainy days also. Here is what you can do for 24 hours in rainy Milan:

●Book a taxi directly from airport to Duomo and marvel how majstic the Gothic cathedral looks even in gloomy weather. It took nearly six centuries to complete, boasts over 3,400 statues, and its construction required the use of 78 different types of marble. There you can book a ticket to explore its vast interior, and if the weather will be promising, ascend to the rooftop for panoramic views of the city.

●Named after Italy’s first king, adjacent to the iconic Duomo in Milan, lies the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, this 19th-century masterpiece connects Piazza del Duomo with Piazza della Scala and is renowned as one of the world’s oldest shopping malls. Indulge like us in some retail therapy, or simply admire the stunning architecture of the glass-domed roof and ornate decorations.
After shopping is done, it’s time for lunch.

● Enjoy the excquisite cuisine of Locanda Perbelini. Led by renowned chef Giancarlo Perbellini, this Michelin-starred restaurant promises a gastronomic adventure that tantalizes the senses. With a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and innovative techniques, a meal there is sure to leave a lasting impression. Situated in Brera, it is warm, cozy, descret and with very fashionable people. And we are still dreaming about the “Guancia di vitello brasato”.

● Watch a ballet, or opera show at Teatro La Scala, because at La Scala you witness performances by some of the world’s most renowned artists in a historic setting. Established in 1778, La Scala holds a prestigious place in the world of performing arts. Beyond its illustrious stage, the theater houses a museum showcasing costumes, set designs, and memorabilia, offering insight into its rich cultural heritage.

● Visit “The Biblioteca Ambrosiana”, housing the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, the Ambrosian art gallery. The Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy, is a must-visit for any bibliophile or art enthusiast. Founded in 1609 by Cardinal Federico Borromeo, it boasts a rich collection of manuscripts, incunabula, and works of art. The library’s highlight is Leonardo da Vinci’s “Codex Atlanticus,” a collection of drawings and writings spanning various subjects. Additionally, it houses masterpieces by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Titian. Visitors can marvel the cartoon technique of “The school of Athens” by Raphael that left us amazed.

● Taste tha famous pasta or pizza from “Pasta d’Autore”, a culinary experience not to be missed for any lover of Italian cuisine. Dedicated to quality, Pasta d’Autore offers a delectable selection of pasta and wood-fired pizza dishes crafted with care and expertise. There you become the author of your dish, choose the pasta shape and combine it with your favorite sauce. Pasta d’Autore is born from a family composed of grandmother, mother, and children with a very specific idea: to find an alternative to the classic restaurant. They are passing tradition in the mos delicious way and this restaurant truly won our heart.

● Some contemporary art should not be missed at Fondiazione Prada. Each floor an unique installation. From the famous tulips of Jeff Koons to the “Forgive me father for I have sinned” of Damien Hirst and upside down mushrooms of Carsten Höller, you will experience all the feelings, while being inspired for some cute Instagram pics.
